HOSTAGE IN IRAQ by Norman Kember.

Norman was one of four members of a peace movement who were taken captive in Iraq in Nov 2005, and held for five months. Although a member of the Baptist church in Harrow, Norman's pacifist stance comes over strongly in this meticulous account. A good number of photos and sketches by Norman help the reader to understand the various situations in which the hostages found themselves.

Norman's wife, Pat, was well supported by family, friends and church.
However, as Norman said on his release "In reality it was my wife who was kidnapped last November. She suffered more than I because while I knew that I was alive and well, she did not."

BTW, Norman Kember is a retired Professor of Biophysics at St Bartholomew's Hospital School of Medicine.

THE WAR ON TERROR - How should Christians respond? by Nick Solly Megoran.

The rules of war are changing. Across the globe, terror strategies strike cold fear into the hearts of ordinary citizens, as innocent people become legitimate targets for bloodshed.
Some Western governments have launched their counter attack, but for many the War on Terror throws up troubling questions:

Who really has right on their side?

How far should we go in protecting innocents?

How can ordinary Christians influence a world dominated by tarnished politicians and brutal terrorists?

And, crucially, how can God's message of love and reconciliation be heard?

Nick Solly Megoran combines an acute political knowledge with a rich appreciation of the Bible and true stories of hope to propose how Christians can live courageously through the War on Terror.

THE DAWKINS LETTERS Challenging Atheist Myths by Dave Robertson.

David Robertson wanted there to be an intelligent Christian response to "The God Delusion" - so he wrote an open letter to Richard Dawkins, posted on his church website (Dundee, Scotland). This, somehow, found it's way onto Dawkins' own website - where it generated the largest response, before or since.....

To engage with the culture you need openness and honesty, so there are points of agreement with Dawkins - but that genuine spirit of enquiry also needs to point out where some of his thinking does not hold together.
