UNDER THE RAINBOW by Catherine Campbell – Ambassador Publications

This is the story of a young mother whose first baby daughter was born with microcephaly, a serious condition where the baby's head is small and the brain does not develop as it should. Having accepted this, she then went on to have a normal baby boy. But the third child, another daughter was also born with microcephaly like her sister.
Both girls died before achieving adulthood. In this book Catherine writes about the dismay and disappointment, the heartaches and the joys and especially her walk with God through all the emotional turmoil of living with two disabled children.
I just scanned a little of the book and it tugs at your heart strings to read it.
A deeply moving book which those of you who love true stories will not be able to put down.

ALMOST MIDNIGHT by Richard David Thompson – New Wine Press

This is a book about the end times. I hesitate to recommend this book as I am always sceptical of those who believe that they understand the prophecies of Jeremiah, Daniel and Revelation sufficiently to correlate them with historical and current events and use this supposed knowledge to predict the future. Yet a brief look at this book whetted my appetite. If you read this book, read it with caution, but I think it will be a fascinating and illuminating read.

HOW THEN SHALL WE ANSWER? by Joe Boot – New Wine Press

This is serious book by a serious and capable writer. Joe Boot has spoken at Therfield Chapel in the past and is a very well read theologian and apologist. In this book he tackles not only fundamental issues, such as presuppositions and beliefs, but also historical issues such as Augustine, and contemporary issues including the views of Dawkins. Convinced that we need to have conversations and be able to give answers if we are to commend the Gospel as anything other than a bunch of weird beliefs, he addresses our role as Christian persuaders in a contemporary culture. For those who want to be able to share their faith in the modern sceptical world, this book will be invaluable.
