MERE CHRISTIANITY by C S Lewis

One of the classic defences of Christianity by the famous writer C S Lewis, perhaps better known for Aslan and the Tales of Narnia.   A short but fairly tough book to read, Lewis covers such enduring subjects as Social Morality, Sexual Morality, Christian Marriage and the cost of being a Christian.   He develops cogent arguments in favour of some of the difficult areas of Christianity and demolishes some alternative views.   A book well worth the effort of getting stuck into.

WHY TRUST THE BIBLE? by Amy Orr-Ewing

Answers to 10 tough questions.

I found this book engaging and easy to read.   Amy is a young writer, currently working for the Zacharias trust and in this book she addresses the ten questions that she was most frequently challenged with.   Aware that the world at large and many scholars do not believe the Bible to be a reliable source of information, she sets out to demonstrate that it is.   What about other holy books?; How can I know?; Is the Bible sexist? Are just some of the questions she answers.   A valuable addition to your library.

KNOW WHY YOU BELIEVE by Paul E Little

Connecting faith and reason

We've all heard the story of the little boy, who when asked what faith is, replied "Believing in something which isn't true".

This superb book gives the lie to that definition as far as Christianity is concerned.   Paul Little asks 'Is Christianity rational?'; 'Did Christ rise from the dead?'; 'Do science and scripture agree?'; and a few others too.   I think you'll enjoy this book.   With it's spiritual edge it will appeal to those who easily get bored with facts, but long to have their faith strengthened and their knowledge increased.   This book will do that for you.

THE CASE FOR CHRIST by Lee Strobel

A journalist's personal investigation into the evidence for Jesus

Written in Lee Strobel's chatty style, this is one of his 'A Case For' series of books in defence of Christianity.   An atheist-turned-Christian, he takes a fresh look at the evidence and delivers it to his reader in an anecdotal and stimulating way.   At the end of the book he invites you to draw your own conclusions.   Read it.   You'll love it.
