4.5. Child Protection at Therfield Chapel
Autumn 2001 will always be remembered for the devastation that was wreaked upon the United States and for many people looking ahead to spring seems impossible. But looking ahead, nevertheless, is what we must do because violence must not be allowed to stop the world from carrying on. Also there is much to which we can look forward .
In the coming months at Therfield we are working towards ways of showing that despite the nature of people, and the way in which they would twist religion to their own ends, God does not want religion but faith. And a faith that grows as we get to know him better, and understand his love for humanity, and his horror at the way that we behave.
The programme hopefully, should prove to be varied. Light hearted and serious, encouraging and challenging, but very much designed to point the way towards a God who can show us how to put the nightmares of the past behind us.

2.1.
Sunday Morning Service
Relaxed and informal service for people of all ages
10.30am
Therfield Chapel
Each Sunday
morning Crispy the Duck and Wolla Maroo the Kangaroo, tell us a modern parable.
The children are then invited to the coffee bar to enjoy further bible stories,
games and crafts, whilst the adults can listen to a more in depth discussion
and exploration of the Christian faith.
The service aims to provide an informal, but informative introduction to Christianity
and seeks to answer the question "what is Christianity?" There are
lots of opportunities to ask your own questions during the service as well as
afterwards over coffee and cake.

Currently we are investigating Luke and from November 11th we move on to Judges.
Each week a chapter of each book is examined to seek its truth and message for
the lives that God would have us to lead today.

and upwards, crèche facilities can also be available. The children take
part in the service for the first twenty minutes, they are then taken to their

Bible stories. Older children remain in the service.

CHRISTIANITY EXPLORED... 2002
Exciting and new for 2002 is a course called Christianity Explored, a ten week
examination of the Christian Faith. Ideal for those who have no experience of
the church, as well as those with lots, it will take place on a Thursday evening
to look at what being a Christian is all about.
Part of the course will be an away day in April, at a retreat centre in Bishop's Stortford, which will look at the Church, the Holy Spirit, Prayer, the Bible and the Motivation to keep going. If you don't do anything else in 2002, do this, to grow, to be challenged, and to motivate yourself as you face life as a Christian. More details in abundance available at the Chapel
3.5.
Walk Through the Bible - February 9, 2002
Spend a day unlocking the way the Old Testament works, with an extensive and
exciting course that will teach you more in a few hours than you might have
thought imaginable. For further information contact: Paul Zanreps
3.6.
Spring Lecture - March 23, 2002
Doug Harris of Reachout Ministries
Neither academic nor overbearing, Doug Harris is a very well known speaker on
issues like the New Age, Religious Cults and the Occult. Last year, following
an excellent meal, he challenged people to think about the way the New Age influenced
our lives, and how it affected our relationship with God. Continuing on, Doug
will follow themes to help us build ourselves up for the everyday challenges
of life.
